The Cycle <i>Songs of Bukovina</i> by Leonid Desyatnikov as an Example of Palimpsest

The Songs of Bukovina by Leonid Desyatnikov, composed in 2017 and inspired folk tunes, continue the tradition piano prelude cycles, which originated Romantic era were actively developed thereafter. This article attempts to interpret composition as an example neoromanticism, acknowledging its inseparable connection past while simultaneously exploring stylistic features composer’s method. Significant attention is devoted romantic idea synthesis: “The Bukovina” exhibit a fusion incongruous elements, seamlessly combining disparate diverse materials.
